Project Date: July, 2010
Ballard Diving & Salvage was hired by the US Government to recover a downed MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter in LaPush, WA. The aircraft was headed to its homeport in Sitka, AK when it went down in the Pacific Ocean. Salvage of aircraft pieces was completed by utilizing a Columbia Boeing 234 Chinook Helicopter due to its location and hazardous surf conditions.
Divers swept and scoured the bottom performing search patterns in an effort to recover even the smallest pieces of wreckage.
BDS not only performed the salvage, however also performed lightering of fuel, transportation and logistics of the aircraft pieces to storage for investigation purposes by the government.
The job was done safely, without incident and done with respect to those who lost their lives during the casualty.
