Title: The Washington Department of Ecology and the U.S. Coast Guard are working to contain oil leaking from a sunken vessel on Shaw Island
Press: The Coast Guard has opened the federal Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund to hire a contractor - Ballard Diving and Salvage - to perform the work. Ballard's dive team will remove fuel that remains on the vessel or plug openings to prevent further discharges. The Coast Guard is overseeing all of today's activities.

Title: Ballard Diving & Salvage crews remove last traces of Davy Crockett Ship
Press: The milestone completes a lengthy endeavor that produced eye-catching numbers besides its cost. Workers removed almost 4.5 million pounds of steel as the vessel was taken apart. They recovered more than 33,000 gallons of bunker oil, and took out well over 800,000 pounds of debris as of the end of October, according to the ecology department. U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Shawn Eggert called it a job well done.

Title: Unified Command completes raising vessel off of West Seattle
Press: The U.S. Coast Guard and Wash. Dept. of Ecology, are working with contractor Ballard Diving and Salvage, to re-float the vessel Justin, on Saturday. A 150 ton crane barge is being used to recover the 73 foot vessel. Lifting will commence at approximately 5 p.m. The Justin will be lifted completely from the water. It will remain suspended, allowing water to drain, and placed on a barge that will arrive at approximately 6 p.m.

Press: The final section of a once proud WWII Liberty Ship was removed from the Columbia River today by Ballard Diving & Salvage under the direction of the United States Coast Guard and unified command consisting of both Washington and Oregon Department of Ecologies. This concludes a massive and carefully engineered effort to prevent more than 32,000 gallons of bunker oil from escaping into the river from the various double-bottom tanks and other holds containing the decades old bunker fuel harboring the sticky black substance.
